the project is about a new interpretation of the traditional courtyard-house which is one of the main housing types in the arab world. the project tries to answer the question how can this housing-type be translated into a building type of the 21st century, without loosing its characteristics.
the concept is based on two interwoven, endless loops. the characteristics of the loop is the quality of its solid (the outside) and void (the inside), which is similar to the qualities of a courtyard house. the design of a single house is, due to its form, endlessly extendable. the client asked for 4.000 houses. Parts of them will be based on this design.
